Action Items

An action item for Underground Storage Tanks (USTs) typically refers to a specific task or set of tasks that must be completed to ensure the proper operation, maintenance, or compliance of the UST system. Here are some examples of action items:

  1. Inspection and Maintenance: Regularly inspect spill prevention equipment, release detection equipment, and containment sumps to ensure they are functioning correctly and are free of damage or obstructions

  2. Leak Detection: Implement and maintain a leak detection system to monitor for any signs of leaks or unusual operating conditions. This includes checking alarms and ensuring all detection equipment is operational

  3. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all inspections, maintenance activities, and any corrective actions taken. This helps in demonstrating compliance with regulatory requirements

  4. Corrective Actions: If any deficiencies are found during inspections, take immediate corrective actions to address the issues. This might involve repairing or replacing damaged components, cleaning spill containment areas, or addressing any detected leaks

  5. Compliance with Regulations: Ensure that all UST systems comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including those related to installation, operation, and maintenance

These action items are crucial for preventing environmental contamination and ensuring the safety and reliability of UST systems. An Action Item can be found during an inspection for any functionality testing and can be either an asset or a PDF-driven document.
